This workshop gives you an insight into the world of making organic and sustainable pastels from stunning earth pigments and then doodling with what you have created! Become confident with pastels as a soft and effective medium. Be a part of Mo Riggs inaugural pastel making workshop where you will have an exclusive insight into crafting your own pastels step by step. Exploring the boundaries of these delicate pastels will give you some stunning effects with layering in earthy tones.You will develop some pastel techniques that can enhance what you might already know or give you a fresh approach to your own style of creativity. Creating with your own pastels will spark a dialogue between your mind and hand to begin the journey from abstract patterns to images ,objects or landscapes.

Hatching, stippling, scribbling, using colours such as yellow black and red, are just some of the ways to develop a connection with your pastels to begin introducing you to ways of creating. All materials are included.

Workshop Artist: Mo Riggs

Mo Riggs is a long standing established and internationally acclaimed artist who is a passionate nature lover advocating for healthy land and water in our environment. Mo embarked on her own private rebellion against synthetic plastic art mediums and now crafts her own traditional paints. She forages for pigments out in the wild and is successfully developing a sustainably, viable earth and mineral pigment palette of stunning archival quality colours. All her custom and stock paintings she currently renders with earth and mineral pigment paints. Mo Riggs earth pigments is a shared journey for curious creatives everywhere especially those keen to make the switch towards reducing their individual plastic consumption. For several years Mo has facilitated many successful pigment watercolour, tempera and oil paint workshops between Redland Bay’s Indigiscapes to Bundaberg’s Bargara.
