The workshop will give you an insight into tools and activities to begin confidently in graphite and pencil, watercolour pencils, painting and dry pastels. You will investigate visual arts elements such as line, colour, shape and texture using a variety of simple media. You will be shown some creative and easy ways to take these techniques and skills further in exercises designed to get you combining these in a journal space.
You will also be exploring and experimenting with elements of design and having hands-on experience with a variety of traditional and non-traditional media within your visual journal space. Journaling shows you how to explore and become confident with a variety of mediums, tools and techniques.
You might have heard that keeping a journal is a great way to record your thoughts and understand your emotions. If you are wanting to de-stress then journaling can help take your mind away from what could be stifling your energy. Typical journaling involves only writing—but for those who are more visually inclined, an art journal is a great alternative. An art journal is a visual diary; it combines elements of writing, drawing, painting, collage, watercolours and even printmaking to express yourself. This includes your everyday life, as well as your bigger hopes, dreams, and fears. An A4 journal and all art materials included.
