Searching for creative group activities to try on the Sunshine Coast? Join Art Workshops' beginner-friendly drawing workshop and perfect the art of portraits with a pencil and paper!
In this workshop, you will be guided through the basic steps to drawing various portraits by an expert artist. To begin you will practice your observational skills and then get hands-on with various materials, from charcoal to water soluble graphite, ink and more and start making magic on paper!
Learn drawing techniques such as rubbing, mark-making, using negative space to create depth, showing and more. Get inspired by the world around you and meet like-minded people in a relaxed and fun environment.

Not only will you learn new skills from an industry professional but you'll also leave feeling more confident and creatively fulfilled too!
Explore and fire your passion for drawing by creating create your own toolkit of materials and develop the art of observation and portraiture. Materials provided for this workshop will be graphite, charcoal, pastels, ink, various A3 and A4 papers. You will learn how to create a portrait using skills such as proportion, contour lines and tonal experiments to expand your knowledge into drawing with various media. Techniques such as continuous line, mark making, working into negative spaces, exploring depth and shadows and transferring images are just some of the ways to create ideas for drawing portraits that will reflect your unique approach. Understanding facial shapes and angles will start you observing and refining your own approach to what makes up a portrait. This is a workshop for beginners at heart and lovers of challenging the idea of what makes a portrait.

Janine Delgos is a qualified secondary art educator and artist with 30 years of experience in the realm of Visual Art and Education. She has been a prolific teacher in both regional and coastal schools in and around the Sunshine Coast and is passionate at encouraging her students to explore and break conventions and boundaries to find their own narrative as well as fostering community creativity and mentoring the young and talented. Janine has a multitude of skills, techniques and materials knowledge that provide inspiring and creative approaches to any artwork
